Why???

I know it’s cliché, but children really are our most precious natural resource.  That’s why this blog is going to be dedicated to informing parents, teachers, guardians and caretakers about issues regarding the health and safety of our children.

It’s important for parents to be informed, have resources to turn to with questions, and know how to deal with common issues.  It’s my hope to unravel debated topics and to find scientific proof that will allow parents to make decisions regarding their children’s health and safety confidently.

As a former second grade teacher, I feel like I’ve heard and seen all extremes when it comes to children’s health.  Some parents would do nothing short of having their child eat while doing a hand-stand if they thought it would keep their child healthy.  And of course, there was the other extreme:  parents who only did their grocery shopping in the candy isle of 7-Eleven.

This blog will discuss causal topics, such as packing lunches, the flu, safety tips for Halloween, and more in depth matters, such as preventing allergies, juvenile diabetes, etc.    Everyday research is being conducted and analyzed to determine the best measures for our children and how to deal with diseases and other health issues.

Please feel free to send me any topic ideas, debates, resources or studies you are interested in.
